If there is hope, it must lie in the proles
A new Gallup poll reveals a Democratic constituency that largely favors moving right.
A 45% plurality of Democrats want the party to move right, according to a new poll by Gallup. Okay, that’s not quite what it says — respondents actually said they want the party to become “more moderate” — but we all know what that actually means. This is not a particularly strong number on its own, but set it in contrast with the number of Democrats who want the party to move the other way and the overwhelming preference becomes clear: only 29% want the party to become “more liberal” (read: move left). That’s a marginal difference of 16%.
