Jane Fonda thinks that there wouldn’t be a “climate crisis if it wasn’t for racism.” Or at least, that’s the popular summary of a Fox News clip that’s gone viral this weekend — and naturally, since the right is laughing at it, a lot of liberals have reverse polarized themselves into agreeing with it. Socialists, I should hope, would know better. It just isn’t a plausible explaination of climate change, but it is a good example of identitarian reductionism.
